Nintendo eShop Japan Charts – Week 43/44, 2017

It’s time again for the weekly eShop charts from Japan: if you’re interested in looking at what are the best selling games in Japan for all Nintendo platforms, here’s the weekly rankings for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U for the period between November 2nd to November 8th, 2017.

Let’s start with the Switch Top 20: Odyssey is still at the top, while the second place is…wait a sec-what? Touhou Kobuto V Burst Battle? A Touhou fangame was the second best-selling game last week?

…Sorry, I have to

I just couldn’t resist. What the hell.

Moving on (at least I’ll try to do so), there are several other new entries this week, both bigger games and indie titles. Speaking of the latter, SMG Studio’s Death Squared debuts at 12th while Super Beat Sports from Harmonix sees a bit less enthusiastic response from Japan, charting at 18th. This week marks also Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s first appearance, thanks to the pre-load option becoming available after the Nintendo Direct presentation from earlier this week. In a rather surprising way, the game + expansion pass bundled SKU (11th) is quite higher than the solo SKU (20th); surprising also because, looking at the Current Best Sellers rankings (the one tracking the past two weeks of sales), the bundle SKU is at the bottom of the list while Xenoblade 2 is in the top 15. This might mean that, in the case of games like Xenoblade 2, such bundles might be present in the current charts, but not proprerly represented sales-wise, and it’s possible its sales performance might be incorporated into the regular listing; surely something that could require a deeper investigation in the future.

Uno from Ubisoft (15th) and the Arcade Archives version of Art of Fighting 3 (19th) are the last new entries in Top 20 for this week.
